Book review:

Sam: The Cat Without A Tail is a marvelous children’s picture book written by Gloria Lintermans and Illustrated by Kristina Tosic. It is a charming story with a meaningful message on self-acceptance and touches the very heart of the reader and child.

Sam is a white Manx kitten who has just been adopted into the home of a young boy named Alex. Sam is fully loved and accepted by Alex, and his family, however the neighborhood cats begin to make him aware of the fact that he has no tail and is noticeably different than all of the other cats. Being teased about his tail, Sam begins to feel bad about himself.

Then, Aunt Marsha arrives and she helps Sam to accept himself for who he is and he soon learns that being different is not a bad thing, but is actually a wonderful thing. Thanks to Aunt Marsha, Sam feels better and begins to accept and love himself just as he is.

Sam: The Cat Without Tail teaches children to accept others who look different, and that being different makes others unique in a special way. Gloria Lintermans has written a beautiful tale and created an enchanting picture book to help children with self-esteem, self-acceptance and confidence. The story proved to be engaging when it captured, delighted and held the attention of my own young children. They loved the bright charming illustrations and kept repeating, “Aww, Sam is so cute,” over and over again. Even at their young ages of three, four and five they all understood the meaningful message within the pages of this sweet book.

Sam: The Cat Without a Tail by Gloria Lintermans stands out as a fun, enjoyable and essential children’s book which our family has come to treasure. It has found a spot on our family’s bookshelf in the section of our most special and cherished books. With adorable, colorful illustrations and a story that is entertaining, fun and meaningful, Kids Lit Book Café highly recommends Sam: The Cat Without a Tail by Gloria Lintermans for all young children.
